Home and Business Battery Scheme

Solar Battery Rebate

If you’re a Northern Territory (NT) homeowner, business or a not-for-profit organisation, you can apply for a grant through the Home and Business Battery Scheme to buy and install batteries and inverters.

Eligible homeowners and businesses can access a grant of $400 per kilowatt hour of useable battery system capacity, up to a maximum grant of $5,000.

What is the Home and Business Battery Scheme

The Northern Territory Government’s initiative aims to accelerate the transition to renewable energy. The Home and Business Battery Scheme offers financial support to residents and businesses who want to install a rooftop solar system or upgrade their existing setup with a home battery. This scheme is part of the Territory’s vision for a sustainable energy future.

What’s included

You can use the funding to buy and install:

  • a solar photovoltaic (PV) with an eligible battery and inverter
  • an eligible battery only, if you already have solar PV installed.

What’s not included

You can’t use the funding to buy and install solar PV panels and inverters where they are not being installed simultaneously with a battery.

Eligibility Requirements

You can apply if you’re:

  • a registered owner of a residential property in the NT
  • a registered NT business
  • a not-for-profit or community organisation operating in the NT in either owned or leased premises.

The property can be owner-occupied or used as an investment, but there can only be one application per property and per homeowner.

If you’re a homeowner and also own a business, you can apply for one grant for your home and one for your business.

You can only submit one application per property and per homeowner.
